The BUZZ about Juice Cleansing

I know Juice Cleanses have a bad rep: that Beyonce does them, but it’s “so unhealthy”, blah blah blah….

Just to put it out there: too much of anything is bad for you. So yea, if you’re juice cleansing for a week every month, that’s definitely not great for your body or metabolism. Same goes for eating ice-cream every night. Too much of anything is BAD for you. So, put the myths away and let’s do some exploring, shall we?

Now, the BUZZ about juice cleansing and why some celebrities do it is that it actually does wonders for your body. It can totally boost your metabolism, clear your face and it totally works. The reason why I started to love juice cleanses is because I love to feel clean and pure. I love juice cleansing after the holidays when I’ve eaten so many fatty and processed foods for a whole week with the fam and I’m in dire need of some system cleanse. Juice cleansing flushes out the toxins in your body. A one-day or three-day juice cleanse can do wonders. It’s not too long and if you’r really dedicated to purifying your system it really isn’t all bad.

So, with that being said, here’s the lovely benefits of doing a one or three day cleanse:

  • boosts metabolism
  • keeps you hydrated
  • provides necessary nutrients
  • flushes out toxins

Having six to eight juices a day is clearly not enough to keep you up and alert and satisfied so have a glass of water between every juice and I also recommend coconut water. The beauty of juice cleansing is that you can still eat! YES, YOU CAN EAT! You just have to eat pure and mindfully. Like I said, everything in moderation.

Here are the snacks I recommend on a juice cleanse:

  • Cucumber slices
  • Hard-boiled eggs (for protein!)
  • Celery
  • Apple
  • Avocado

Hard-boiled eggs are my favorite source of protein on a cleanse and are great snacks for on-the-go!

The superfoods above provide all the necessary protein and nutrients to help you not starve to death during your juice cleanse. You also shouldn’t be dying from hunger on a cleanse. Drinking glasses of water throughout the day in between juices really helps and the less pure snacks you consume, the better. With that being said, it’s important to keep physical activity to a low when cleansing since you’re not taking in too many calories or the right foods for a vicious workout.

Here is what I DON’T recommend doing on a cleanse.

  • Heavy Cardio (A non-strenuous  hike is fine)
  • Heavy Weights
  • ANYTHING HEAVY WORKOUT RELATED

Taking a small hike or walking around whether it’s for shopping or taking your dog out for a walk is fine. It’s important not to overwork your body during a cleanse since it’s working flushing the toxins out and not taking in too many calories,

All in all, juice cleanses are NOT awful for you. In fact, my skin feels rejuvenated, I have more energy, I sleep better all on a juice cleanse. Maybe if you’ve had In-N-Out for the past couple of days or too much ice-cream in the Summer heat and feel a little sluggish, maybe it’s time to turn to a juice cleanse and see for yourself all of its wonders!

**Also, Juice Cleansing is NOT for everyone. It’s totally a preference. I love food, so I know the struggle. I just decided to give it a go and maybe your body might thank you for it!**

Happy Juicing!

xx, Bri.
